PUNCTUALITY- is very important in Swedish culture;

thus the big clock just infront of the hospital

General radiography in Lund

D & RT enjoyed the 2 weeks Conventional Radiography.

Everything from the control panel to the requests are in Swedish.

D & RT have been given 12 pages list of English-Swedish 'hospital terms' which D & RT find really useful.

D & RT were very pleased that they were allowed to perform most of the examinations. Although, at times D & RT felt slightly useless and spoilt that everytime they need the radiographers to read and translate the request form and select the examination on the control panel and finish the post-processing. D & RT wish they are superhuman who can learn other language overnight.

D & RT were so pleased that the staff members are so supportive and helpful. They felt really welcome in Lund Hospital.

The control panel - most of the words are nearly similar to English.

It's convienient, easy and gives 'textbook' image of the skyline.

• why PA wrist must be done with the wrist level with the humerous +shoulder
• why obliques are done on knee examinations
• why 2 oblique views are done on ankle examinations

After the 2 weeks of conventional radiography training, D & RT felt more 'knowledgable'. Thanks to the staff members for being very helpful and patient with the annoying D & RT.

INCIDENT

Type of incident: obstruction of image preventing diagnosis

Individuals affected: 1 patient, 2 students, 2 staff members

Description of incident: mischeivious student distracting the other student. Posing to the x-ray tube whilst the other student performs chest x-ray.

Have been busy

D & RT have been busy with clinical placement + assignments + research project.

Haven't got time to update the blog.

3rd of February, 2008, 12.30pm;

D & RT went to Malmo.

Since it was Sunday, most shops were closed.

D & RT just went sight seeing and spot a place to skate!

D & RT skate all afternoon, falling over up side down + seeking 'skating help' from a little girl.

They eventually manage to HmmmMmm.. stand + walk on the ice!

Suprisingly, D & RT SURVIVED the 2 weeks INTENSIVE course.

D & RT received their certificate.

Now D & RT are able to;

• tell the time
• read
• do some grammar
• compose sentences
• be polite ( D & RT most used word = ursakta mig! jag sent! which means sorry i'm late)
• order FOOD (VERY useful)

• 10 statements of professional conduct by SOR

23 rd January 2008;

First day Clincal placement at Lund Hospital.

VeRa (inpatient X-ray) + RT (outpatient X-ray) + D (outpatient X-ray)

They had a good day.

Amazed to observe the 'so many different views' done on one examination.

5 views for knee! 4 views for pelvis! and that is ROUTINE.

Images must be viewed by the radiologist before the patient can leave and might request MORE views.
